Washington STEM works to eliminate educational barriers and foster accessible, culturally relevant STEM learning practices. We use data and community conversations to identify biases and gaps. We work alongside our partners to develop localized programs that support educators and learners through each critical phase of their cradle-to-career journey.
Our place-based and statewide partners include leaders of regional cross-sector networks, coalitions, educators, advocates, state agencies, and legislators.

We don’t do data and measurement in a vacuum—we do it in community. Before we look at indicators, we listen closely to teachers, students, and families. We ask what they’re seeing and what hunches they have about the barriers holding students back.
Then we dig into the research to determine which indicators reflect meaningful student outcomes. We pair those quantitative measures with qualitative insights that help explain the “why.”
This approach ensures our strategies respond to lived experience. The result: accessible, actionable data that drives systems-level change and better outcomes for Washington’s students.
We champion transformative solutions by educating decision-makers, amplifying impact stories, and forging alliances across systems and sectors to drive lasting, equitable policy change.
Our advocacy efforts have led to reforms in early learning and childcare, broadband expansion and digital equity, expansion of dual credit and financial aid access, funding and infrastructure for career-connected learning, and more.

This is ambitious work, and we can’t do it alone. Learn more about how you can support us here.
