This year we launched STEM-PD, a new initiative to reimagine teacher professional development and support our educators as they implement Common Core State Standards in mathematics.

Teaching + Learning

Effective STEM learning will provide students with the robust and inspiring foundation needed to contribute to and thrive in our STEM-rich world. The most important factors in student achievement are what teachers know and do in the classroom. Effective STEM teaching develops students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes, and increases student achievement in all subjects. Read Story

Out-Of-School Experiences

Out-of-school experiences expand and integrate PreK-12 and post-secondary classroom learning with free-choice STEM experiences that are fun, inspiring, and personally meaningful. They are especially effective at closing the achievement gap for underserved and underrepresented youth. Out-of-school experiences can occur before school, during lunchtime, after school, or on weekends, school holidays, and summer break. They often involve collaborations between program providers, education agencies, community members, and STEM professionals. Read Story

Powerful Partnerships

Improving student success in STEM is a community-wide responsibility. Partnerships are critical in improving student and teacher outcomes by leveraging expertise across sectors. Partnerships can include any combination of PreK-12, post-secondary, community-based organizations, or business and industry. Read Story
