WASHINGTON STEM ANNOUNCES ANDY SHOUSE AS NEW CHIEF PROGRAM OFFICER

Washington STEM, a statewide nonprofit advancing excellence, innovation, and equity in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education, is pleased to announce the appointment of Andy Shouse, Ph.D. as our Chief Program Officer.Andy Shouse

As Chief Program Officer, Dr. Shouse will be responsible for leading Washington STEM’s teaching and learning programs, including identifying a research base, developing strategies, determining initiative goals and objectives, and executing programs. He will be responsible for driving the scalability of proven practices in education from cradle to career, with emphasis on underserved and underrepresented groups.
 
“I am delighted with the experience Andy will bring to our team,” said Patrick D’Amelio, CEO of Washington STEM. “I am particularly pleased by Andy’s vision and energy and know he will embrace the work of advancing STEM education.”
 
Dr. Shouse comes to Washington STEM from the University of Washington College of Education, where his research focused on equitable science education in formal and informal settings and communication of research to policy and practice audiences. Dr. Shouse has also served as Senior Program Officer at the National Research Council's Board on Science Education. He has consulted for the World Bank, the National Center on Education and the Economy, and the National Research Council. Dr. Shouse earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy at Michigan State University in 2005.
