Chief Financial Officer

Cindy Gustafson brings passion and excellence to her role as Chief Financial Officer at Washington STEM. Drawing from a distinguished career in finance paired with a passion for community engagement and social responsibility, Cindy plays an integral role in stewarding Washington STEM's resources to ensure every student in our state receives a robust and inspiring STEM education.

Cindy has a deep experience in the financial world - from her first job as senior auditor at Price Waterhouse, Seattle, to her more recent positions of chief financial officer at Seattle Biomedical Research Institute, and Controller at the Seattle Times. At Washington STEM, Cindy has the opportunity to leverage her experience to benefit those students most underserved and underrepresented in our state.

Community involvement and social responsibility are high priorities for Cindy. Currently, she serves on the board of the Edlab Group and is a 25-year member of Financial Executives International. She has also served as president and treasurer of Laurelhurst Elementary School, Eckstein Middle School, and Roosevelt High School PTA, and as the president of the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority.

Originally from Montana, Cindy and her husband have lived in and loved Seattle for more than 30 years. They are proud parents to two children, both Seattle public school graduates and University of Washington alumni. In their free time, Cindy and her spouse enjoy welcoming friends and family to their home - dusting off old memories and making new ones around the family table. With a diverse group of friends, and a lively interest in movies, live theater, lectures, travel, reading, and gardening, Cindy and her husband find life to be full.
