Caroline King

Caroline King is the Chief Executive Officer of Washington STEM. She leads Washington STEM’s program, policy, and partnerships efforts to advance equity, excellence, and innovation in STEM innovation.

Caroline has over 20 years of experience advancing strategies that allow young people to access economic opportunity through education. Caroline was one of the founders of Washington STEM and served as Chief Policy and Strategy Officer for seven years. Caroline has also served as Executive Director of Partnership for Learning and a founding member of Harvard’s Public Education Leadership Project. Read More

Alex Johnston

Alex Johnston serves as Washington STEM’s Chief Development Officer, leading the organization’s resource development efforts. She is personally invested in improving and increasing access to STEM education as she sees great potential for the number of lives that will be changed and the economic impact to both our state and country. She also wonders what path her life might have taken if, as a young girl who excelled in math and science, she had been encouraged to pursue those paths by a more inclusive and innovative education system. Program Officer

Amanda Fankhauser

Amanda Fankhauser’s love for education started early, when she would fake “well” so as not to miss a day of school. Amanda holds a Masters in Teaching from the University of Washington and a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in early childhood development. Over the years, she has worked with students in a variety of roles and settings: as a fifth grade teacher and student council advisor in the Lake Washington School District, a summer camp teacher at both Pacific Science Center and Experience Music Project and a substitute teacher with the Bellevue School District.
