FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY IS KEY TO SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION AND TO BUILDING LONG-TERM RELATIONSHIPS

2012

In its second year of operation, Washington STEM awarded planning grants to three STEM Networks to accelerate student success in alignment with local economic development. Three additional rounds of grants were awarded, including several that are partnering on STEM-PD, a new Washington STEM initiative to reimagine professional development for teachers.

2011

First full year of operation for Washington STEM. Activities included building an organization and making three rounds of grant awards. A multi-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, together with corporate and individual pledges comprised the nearly $20 million of start-up funding for the organization.

2010

2010 was the first reporting year for Washington STEM. During this period, the organization completed its business plan, secured its nonprofit 501c3 status and founded its board of directors.
