Dean has over 30 years experience in the design, construction, and real estate industries in the Pacific Northwest. Under his leadership, McKinstry has grown from its roots as a small mechanical contractor into the premier design/build mechanical and electrical firm in the Puget Sound region, complemented by extensive and growing service, facility management, and energy services operations throughout the Pacific Northwest, Rocky Mountain, Midwest, and Southwest regions. As a leader in energy, sustainability, and smart buildings, McKinstry leverages a diverse set of capabilities to optimize operations in schools, hospitals, government buildings, industrial facilities, and commercial offices.

McKinstry currently has approximately 1,800 staff operating from more than 20 offices, with annual revenues in excess of $500 million.

Dean has served the community in a variety of industry and philanthropic roles. Outside the realm of facility systems, his passions revolve around global health and education, driven by the idea that all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. In addition to his involvement with Washington STEM, Dean currently serves on the boards of PATH, Seattle Children’s Hospital, Seattle University Campaign Steering Committee, and the Washington Roundtable.

Dean graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington, where he earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Molecular Biology and Psychology.
